Rebranding 
FnO Play to MarketWolf

Case Study #1

FnO Play was India’s first exclusively Futures & Options trading application whose tagline is “Anyone Can Trade” and brand promise - Futures & Options has been simplified so much that anyone who is legally allowed to trade and has access to a smartphone, can do so.

The application is built on a robust risk management system that safeguards traders from the pitfalls of unlimited losses and overtrading.

However, downloads and retention were low.

 We found that the target audience were not able to relate to FnO Play because: 

  1. The name “FnO” was not familiar to novice traders or perceived as complex and highly risky. 

  2. The addition of “Play” to the name was being rejected for trivializing a complex trading instrument and making it seem frivolous. 

  3. The font usage and lack of information on the website created mistrust.

The Brief:

Thorough market research & customer surveys helped make data-backed decisions in creating the new brand strategy and identity. 

The new brand presented Futures & Options trading as:

  1. Appropriately challenging
  2. A potentially profitable venture - with the right tools & skills
  3. An opportunity to master new skills.

We presented the new Brand as:
MarketWolf. 

We developed a strong brand story using the traits of wolves and drawing parallels to stock markets that connected deeply with novice traders and lowered the barrier for free trials and encouraged them to spread the word in their networks. 

We iterated the storytelling into the new logo that depicted a wolf, with red & green eyes to signify profit or loss, strong color palette, new informative website, and shared a lot of Top of Funnel content on social media to create brand awareness.

With the new branding and growth marketing strategies we were able to grow the user base from 30,000 to over 1.7 million, consistently achieving the company’s target MRR, during our association. 

The company also raised their Series A round of funding on the back of this growth.

Brand Strategy & Identity for The Village Kitchen

Case Study #2

A social start up in a small village in Gujarat aspired to have their brand of healthy snacks in small grocery stores in Ahmedabad Mumbai, Delhi and beyond. 

They were preparing popular snacks in a healthier way - by replacing gluten, sugars and deep-frying techniques with alternatives. 
It was run by the women in a remote Gujarati village who wanted to carve an identity beyond the hearth of their homes and dreamt of their snacks occupying shelf space in major cities across India. 

The Brief:

They assigned us the task of creating their brand from scratch, but without relying heavily on the social aspect of their origin story, but rather focus on creating a premium look to represent the taste and quality of their products. 

Hence, The Village Kitchen was born, we created the logo to match, premium packaging & photography, marketing materials for distribution, social media presence and a website for direct order fulfillment.

The Village Kitchen grew to 12 SKUs during our association, with distribution to mid to high range grocery store chains in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Chennai, Bangalore and the UK. 

The business was also later sold.
